Counselling Experience
I qualified as a counsellor in 2008 and worked for a large local high school as their school counsellor, working with students and staff, whilst also working in private practice primarily with adults.
I have worked for the Youth Justice Service, mediating between victims and offenders as a Restorative Justice Officer. I worked with adult victims and young offenders to repair harm committed by the offending behaviour.
I now work in private practice with adults and young people, and for an organisation counselling young people.
I have always had a keen interest in teenage emotional health, previously running a project on the dangers of child sexual exploitative relationships.
I have a lot of experience supporting adults and young people (aged 14+). I am happy to work with people of faith and those with none.
Family conflict
I also work with families experiencing conflict. I use a restorative approach for this, which fundamentally means that I explore the issues with you without anyone apportioning blame and by encouraging family members to share impact and emotions and to work together to find solutions for a better future.
In 2010 I was approached by the University of East Anglia to contribute to a book entitled Counselling and Psychotherapy in Organisational Settings. Here I reflect on my counselling and restorative practice.
